Frequently Asked Questions

What is Acupuncture and What does it do?

Acupuncture is a gentle and powerful healing modality which originated in China over 3,000 years ago. It helps to restore harmony to the body and mind. Through the use of acupuncture the body's reservoirs of Qi (energy) are tapped into which help heal what is out of balance. This is done by inserting hair thin sterilized needles onto specific points of the body; these points are strategically located along the meridians (pathways) which correspond to certain organs.

From a Western Medicine perspective and according to Harvard Medical School “acupuncture stimulates the central nervous system, signaling the body to release various substances including endorphins, immune system cells, neurotransmitters, and neurohormones which impact how the body experiences pain. Research also indicates that acupuncture influences central nervous system functions such as blood pressure and body temperature regulation."

Is it Safe?

Acupuncture is very safe. Prepackaged sterilized needles are used and are immediately disposed of into a sharps container after they are usage. Acupuncture needles are NEVER reused.

Will it interfere with any other therapies I’m doing? (i.e. Physical therapy & massage)

No acupuncture is a wonderful complement to any other therapy you might be receiving. It can even enhance the benefits you receive from other therapies.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture FAQs

What is it?

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture has been used in China as early as 960 AD. It is a safe, non-surgical method designed to minimize and lessen the signs of aging. It is appropriate for women and men of all ages. During the treatment, traditional stainless steel acupuncture needles are inserted on the scalp, face, neck, and body. After they are removed, a mini facial and neck massage is given to promote opening of the meridians and lymphatic drainage.

What are the effects?

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture minimizes fine lines and wrinkles taking 5-15 years off the face and neck. It also increases collagen production, tightens the skin and muscle tone, firms the jowls, increases circulation of blood to the face, reduces puffiness, improves dryness, and reduces hormonal acne. In addition to the cosmetic effects, FRA (Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture) is highly relaxing giving the body a sense of ease and peace. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture also stimulates and mildly detoxifies the lymphatic system.

How many treatments are needed?

For lasting effects, a series of 10 weekly treatments is recommended; however it is typical to see changes after the 4th or 5th treatment. Following the completion of the treatment series, maintenance sessions can be scheduled to maintain and prolong the results.

Why choose Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture over surgical treatments?

Surgical treatments can be expensive, have potential side effects, and a require a prolonged recovery period. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is more cost effective, requires no downtime or recovery period, and produces multiple benefits without risk of surgical complication.
